Riesling Ried Edelschuh 2016
Wine description:
Concentrated aromas of mandarin, pineapple, lime apricot and dark wet slate—pure minerality Location: Edelschuh: From this historical vineyard, which was already referred in 1322 as one of the best single vineyards, we get very mineral driven wines with outstanding ageing potential. Through the high sea altitude we are able to pick very ripe grapes, which still have a very good acidity structure. Through the extreme steepness of up to 90% we are just able to work by hand or with rope winch machines. The very meagre slate soil is very much reflected in the wines. Soil: Red and blue-black slate (paleozoic slate) Awards: 95/100 points Falstaff Weinguide 2018/19 Winemaking: Very late selective hand picked grapes without botrytis, short maceration time, no crushing, gently very slowly pressed . Slow natural fermentation in old 500l wooden casks. Batonage for several months and 8 months aging in the casks. Altitude: 480-560m Steepness: 73-90 % Drinking temperature: 12 °C Drinking description: grilled fish, prawn Characteristics: dry Alcohol: 13,50% Vol. Alk.
